Checkmate the King

If you've never played chess before, checkmating is where the king is both attacked and cannot move to a safe square. You'd think that's easy.

WRONG

Oh yeah it's insanely hard

First of all, maximum of 30 moves per round. Second of all, the king turns into a raccoon with an AK-47 if you're not paying attention. Third of all, the scaling is a bit bonkers. Early game, it's fine, but you won't be laughing when it's Round 50, you don't have Rooks, and you disappointed your bloodline because a 100X100 PNG of a chess piece turned you into a puddle.

Combine your way to the top

Scaccombo's combine mechanic makes the game NOT impossible*. The combinations are value-based:
Pawn + Pawn = Knight
Knight + Pawn = Shield
Bishop + Pawn = Archer
... and 10 more piece types, along with 10 possible modifiers (5 in the demo) to choose from for each piece. Note that you have to buy Blueprints in the Shop to be able to make pieces (except for the Knight, that's free)

*Still hard tho

Shape your board

Deckshapers? Don't make me laugh. Scaccombo gives you 8-32 boardspaces to work with (you can buy rows 2-4, but you start with row 1), in which you can place as many or as few pieces as you wish.

Oh, right. I should explain how you put pieces on the board. There are piece tokens and recipes for pieces (NOT blueprints) in the Shop. Putting a piece on the board costs however many tokens are specified in the board editor.

For modders: just unzip the exe in 7zip or rename game.exe to game.zip and unzip that. all the game files are in there. It's coded in Lua/LOVE2D.
